Kyrie Irving’s name was mentioned in commercial rumors Thursday, and her time with the Brooklyn Nets could be drawing to a close with the onset of looming free will.

The Nets star, who signed with the team ahead of the 2019-20 season, has a $ 36.5 million player option he could choose to facilitate a trade.

He may choose to test the free agency in hopes of a maximum contract, but getting the most money on the open market won’t be guaranteed.

Irving has created a list of teams he would like to be traded with if he and the Nets consider a sign and trade if they can’t come up with an extension, ESPN reported.

On the list would be the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the New York Knicks, the Miami Heat, the Dallas Mavericks and the Philadelphia 76ers.

According to the report, the Nets and Irving can only discuss the possibility of him opting for the last year of his current deal and cannot talk about a new deal until the free agency starts on June 30.

Whatever Irving and the Nets decide to do could affect Kevin Durant.

Irving and Durant arrived in Brooklyn together in 2019. And while the point guard was away from the team in 2021, Durant was their biggest defender. Atletico Shams Charania said during the broadcast at the stadium that Durant was “seriously mulling his future options with the Nets” and “monitored the situation”.

He added that there was an “expectation” that Irving would soon be “looking for a new home via an opt-in and a swap.”

Brooklyn CEO Sean Marks said last month that conversations about Irving’s deal were ongoing, but he hasn’t committed to the point guard’s future with the franchise.

“So he has to look at what he’s going to do with his player option and so on,” Marks said. “I think we know what we’re looking for. We’re looking for guys who want to come in here and be part of something bigger than them. Play selflessly, play team basketball and be available … and that’s not just Kyrie but everyone. here”.
