A woman has escaped serious injury after an adorable koala attacked her on the side of the road in Queensland.
The unfortunate encounter was captured by onlookers Thursday as the woman slowly approached the koala on a busy highway.
In the video, titled “Conversation with a drop bear gone wrong,” the marsupial pounced on the woman as she slowly greeted the animal.
“This b***h is trying to talk about a koala… it’s about to screw up her day and I’m in for it,” viewers can be heard saying.
The startled woman lost her balance and fell to the ground as the koala continued to attack her.
The video has garnered more than a million views, with many sharing their own aggressive encounters with koalas.
“People just have no idea how dangerous they are,” one commented.
“Koalas are no joke, they are very territorial,” said another.
The Queensland Department of Environment and Science advises motorists not to touch wild koalas and to report injured animals.
However, if it is safe to do so, motorists can approach the animal from behind and place a washing basket or towel over it before emergency services arrive.
“Put something heavy on top of the basket to stop the koala from running away and climbing a tree,” advises the Queensland government.
“Make sure the koala is left in a calm and stress-free environment.”
