A new person is now the biggest TikTokker in the world and is making tons of money from his videos.
Content creator Khaby Lame is the new number one TikTok user, dethroning Charli D’Amelio after two years of her reign.
If you’ve never come across Khaby Lame’s content, you’ve missed a bunch of healthy giggles.
Born in Senegal and living in Italy, the 22-year-old is best known for his stabs of completely unhelpful “life hacks” that he demonstrates how ridiculous they are. Its content extends to other comedy skits as well.
What started as a pastime when Italy went into lockdown in 2020 now has over 144million viewers – so I’m not the only one to say it’s hilarious.
D’Amelio was asked by American publication Tech Crunch if she could pass on her TikTok crown, to which she was very kind.
“I was number one for two years. It’s about time someone else got that spot and I’m proud of him,” said the 18-year-old.
“He’s a friend and there’s no bad blood … It feels great to know someone else gets that spot, someone who’s sweet and a good person and loves what they do.”
how much does he earn
So what does it mean for a person’s bank account to be TikTok’s number one creator? For Lame, that means a reported net worth of over $18.5 million ($13 million) as of 2022.
The bulk of that revenue comes from brand sponsorships — he’s reportedly charging just over $72,000 per TikTok promotional video — plus he also runs an online store that sells a range of goods.
You don’t have to feel too sorry for D’Amelio, either, as she’s reportedly making $25 million a year — after turning her TikTok fame into a Hulu reality show with her sister (and co-creator), one Clothing line with Hollister. numerous brand deals and a Snap original show.
