TOKOROZAWA, Saitama Pref. – Tokyo Japanese Olympic ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto launched the fourth no-hitter of the year and 97th in Japanese professional baseball on Saturday, launching the Orix Buffaloes to a 2-0 Pacific League victory over the Seibu Lions.
It is the first time four no hitter have been cast in a single Japanese season since 1943. Lions became the first team not to be hit twice in a season by their predecessors, the Nishitetsu Lions in 1971.
