Twitter tests long text feature called “Notes”

Twitter Inc said Wednesday it was testing a new feature called “Notes,” which would allow users to share essay-like essays as a link both inside and outside the social media platform.

The company also said that the newsletter company Revue, which it bought last year, would now become part of Twitter Write, along with the “Notes” feature. The long-form feature is being tested by a small group of authors, and Twitter gave no further details on its wider rollout. The company currently has a 280-character limit on tweets, a feature it began testing nearly five years ago.

In April, Twitter surprised users by announcing that it would begin testing a new editing feature in the coming months, calling it “the most requested feature in many years.”

The company is in the midst of a $44 billion buyout by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc, the richest person in the world according to Forbes magazine.
