Flights force Forgot You to head to Railway Stakes

In an ideal world, Forgot You would run in Saturday’s Cranbourne Cup before jetting across the country to campaign in Perth.

But it’s not, and he won’t.

Instead, Forgot You will head to Perth, after a float trip from Cranbourne to Sydney, on Monday night and will tackle Saturday’s Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot.

“There was only one flight on Monday night,” Trent Busuttin, who trains Forgot You in partnership with Natalie Young, said.

TAB has Forgot You as an $8 chance in Railway Stakes betting but Busuttin said WA’s most famous race might be on the short side for the last-start Flemington 1800m winner.

“The mile will probably be too short for him but it’s $1.5 million and he’ll definitely pick up some prizemoney,” Busuttin said.

“Two weeks later, he’ll go around in the 1800m race and be harder to beat.”

Busuttin said the presence of multiple Group 1 winner Zaaki would make Forgot You’s task harder in both races but the Cranbourne-based stable was happy to take on the Annabel Neasham-trained veteran.

“Zaaki being there dims the enthusiasm a little bit but it is what it is and we’ll get him over there in good order,” Busuttin said.

“He might as well go around for $1.5 million over a mile and he wouldn’t run badly in it.”

The Perth flight situation also impacted Busuttin and Young’s plans with comeback mare Foxy Cleopatra.

Foxy Cleopatra charged home when narrowly beaten at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day, which was the four-year-old’s first run for a year.

Busuttin said Foxy Cleopatra would run in the Cranbourne Cup with a race in Sydney on December 9 the new plan for Foxy Cleopatra after the camp abandoned the idea of a Perth trip for her.

“If we could run her in the Cranbourne Cup then get her over to Perth, we would have but we can’t,” Busuttin said.

“In a perfect world, she runs in the Cranbourne Cup then goes up to Sydney for the Ingham.

“She’s a genuine Group filly, she’s a really good horse.”

TAB has posted Foxy Cleopatra as an $11 chance in ‘all-in betting’ on the Cranbourne Cup.
