A game like the Soweto derby needs players who are not afraid of the big stage and this is a game where players get an opportunity to engrave their name in the history books of the club and to be remembered for a very long time.

Heading into this match, both Pirates and Chiefs haven’t been consistent in getting positive results. But as cliché as it may sound, form doesn’t count when it comes to this fixture and whichever team rises on the day is likely to win.

We look at four Pirates players that could possibly be match winners for the Buccaneers.

Thembinkosi Lorch

Having been out for some time, Lorch has shown the determination to get back to his best form, and the derby is the perfect game for him to do so. He has previously done well in this fixture and he is likely to deliver once more for Bucs.

Patrick Maswanganyi

The attacking midfielder is one of the most dangerous offensive players in the league. He can unlock defence and create goal-scoring chances. He will surely be a player the Chiefs defenders will be keeping a close look on.

Relebohile Ratomo

The 19-year-old is fearless and his absence from the club after going on trial at Wolverhampton Wanderers has been visible. Ratomo is one of the trusted attackers by coach Jose Riveiro. He is one player who can bring out the sparks in this game and win it for Bucs.

Olisa Ndah

Fixtures against Kaizer Chiefs haven’t gone well for Ndah, but there is no doubt that he is a quality player who can stop the Chiefs attack. Ndah has been getting a lot of game time lately and this clash has come at the right time for him to prove that what happened in the last derbies were just minor mistakes.
