Screenless, App-Free ‘AI Pin’ Developed By Former Apple Execs Aims To Replace The iPhone

Two former Apple executives have teamed up to create a wearable device that aims to compete with the iPhone. The AI Pin, developed by Humane Inc., is a wearable projector that can be attached to clothing. It functions as a virtual smartphone, displaying apps, calls, and voice assistance on hands or surfaces. The project is led by Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, a husband and wife duo who formerly held executive positions at Apple. The tiny pin-sized device boasts cameras for scanning its surroundings, concealed sensors for activation, and built-in speakers. The AI Pin is powered by Cosmos, an operating system that eliminates the need for app downloads. Despite its small size, the device features an ultra-wide RGB camera, depth sensor, motion sensors and a personal speaker that adjusts the volume as needed and can connect to headphones via Bluetooth. Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, co-founders of Humane, stated, “AI Pin is the embodiment of our vision to seamlessly integrate AI into daily life, enhancing our capabilities without overshadowing our humanity. For us, AI Pin is just the beginning.
