NSW Liberal favourite Andrew Constance in Senate preselection race

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says there is a Liberal senate preselection race this Sunday and it is former foreign minister Marise Payne’s pick versus former NSW premier Dominic Perrottet’s pick.

“The favourite is Payne’s old young Liberal mate, the former NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance,” Mr Clennell said.

“One Liberal told me that Marise Payne had been on every moderate faction phone call on this ‘as if her life depended on it’.

“But the stiffest opposition for Constance is likely to come from the daughter of the New South Wales Shadow Treasurer Damien Tudehope, Monica Tudehope who was a former policy director for Dominic Perrottet when he was premier.

“The former Sky News reporter Charlotte Mortlock who has set up this Hilma’s Network group to attempt to get more Liberal women into parliament is attempting to pick off moderates preselectors from Andrew Constance to get Tudehope over the line.”
