Penny Wong under siege after commenting on conflict between Israel and Hamas

Foreign Minister Penny Wong is under fire from two political fronts after she called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Sky News Political reporter Olivia Caisley says the Greens and the pro-Palestine lobby claim Ms Wong has not been strong enough in her condemnation of Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza strip.

Meanwhile, the Coalition has criticised her for even broaching the topic.

The political fight has carried to outside Parliament House in Canberra after a pro-Palestine rally was held
on Monday and a pro-Israeli demonstration calling for the release of Hamas’ hostages will be held on Tuesday.

Speeches will be made by pro-Israel advocates as well as politicians including Deputy Opposition Leader Sussan Ley.
