Russian tour group arrives in North Korea as post-COVID-19 tourism bid

A Russian tour group has become the first to arrive in North Korea since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Russia says an Air Koryo flight carried nearly 100 passengers into North Korea’s capital, Pyongyang, on Friday.

Russia and North Korea have recently grown closer, after a rare overseas meeting between Kim Jong-Un and Vladimir Putin in eastern Russia last year.

The North Korean embassy says it looks forward to new encounters with Russian tourists.

Visitors will spend four days in and around the capital city.
